JAKARTA - The masses of political parties who were present to enliven the support of presidential and vice presidential candidates (candidates) have filled the stage area where the draw and determination of serial numbers in the 2024 presidential election.

The party's functionaries' seats are divided into three sides. From the front of the stage, the seats of party cadres supporting Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar are on the left, supporters of Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud MD in the middle, and Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka on the right.

Before the event started, the cadres of the supporting coalition parties competed with chants while waiting for the three presidential and vice-presidential candidates and the leadership of the dinner party with the commissioners of the Indonesian General Elections Commission (KPU).

Tonight's activity started from the gala dinner with the three pairs of presidential and vice-presidential candidates and the leaders of political parties who were included in the supporting coalition. Gala dinner starts at 18.30 WIB.

Then, the draw and determination of serial numbers starts at 19.30 WIB. The series of events opened with the opening plenary meeting remarks, followed by reading the rules of activities.

The draw mechanism is divided into two stages. Taking queue numbers to take serial numbers is carried out by the vice president. The vice presidential candidate who takes the first sequence number is the one who registers first to the KPU. Furthermore, the candidate pair number is taken by the presidential candidate.

"The first stage in taking this queue number is in accordance with the registration time of the presidential and vice-presidential candidates, which at that time had been held from 19 to 25 October 2023. After they got the queue number, they took the real draw number for the determination of the candidate pair for presidential and vice-presidential candidates," said KPU Commissioner Idham Holik at the KPU office.

Then, each presidential candidate opens the serial number taken, which is then determined by the KPU. After receiving serial numbers, each presidential and vice presidential candidate is given the opportunity to give their respective remarks.

Idham said that the draw and pick-up activities for the presidential and vice-presidential candidate pairs were attended by leaders of political parties and party functionaries.

"We provide sufficient seat allocation in front of the KPU office yard which is the venue for the open plenary session number pair presidential and vice presidential candidates. We provide 22 seats for the leadership of joint political parties and 150 seats for party functionaries, party members or parties they invite," he said.
