JAKARTA - Member of the Indonesian General Elections Commission (KPU) Idham Holik stated that his party had formed a cyber security task force since the beginning of the election stage, June 14, 2022.

"Since the beginning of the election stage in mid-2022, the KPU has formed a cyber security task force," said Idham as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, November 8.

Idham emphasized that the formation of the task force aims to protect all information systems used by the KPU during the face of the political year so that the integrity and security of the election process is maintained.

"This cyber security task force is to monitor, mitigate, or protect all information systems used by the KPU," said Idham.

The task force that has been formed by the KPU, he said, has worked very effectively in securing all information systems managed by the KPU.

He said the Indonesian KPU Cyber Security Task Force had involved all parties who have the authority and authority in managing cybersecurity aspects in Indonesia.

Through a close collaboration, continued Idham, the task force has succeeded in integrating various related parties, including the police who are responsible for domestic cybersecurity.

Previously, the Secretary General of the Indonesian People's Wave Party (Gelora) Mahfuz Sidik suggested that the KPU and the Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) initiate the formation of the 2024 Election Information Security Special Task Force.

"It seems that election organizers, in this case, the KPU and Bawaslu, need to initiate the formation of a special group, namely the Election Information Security Task Force," Mahfuz said in his statement in Jakarta, Friday (3/11).

According to him, this is necessary to maintain the security of election information from cyber attacks on the implementation of the 2024 General Election.

Mahfuz Sidik said that this task force could later involve the Press Council, KPI, BSSN, Polri, and other related parties to carry out cyber patrols in order to enforce the law against the 2024 election disinformation.
