Meet Surya Paloh, Din Syamsuddin Alludes To National Life Disorientation In Elections

JAKARTA - Former Chairman (Ketum) of PP Muhammadiyah Din Syamsuddin revealed the results of his meeting for almost two hours with the Chairman of the NasDem Party, Surya Paloh this afternoon. Din views that currently Indonesia is experiencing a national deviation in national life, especially during the 2024 General Election. However, Din did not explain in detail the meaning of his statement. "We observe that there has been deformation, distortion, and disorientation of our national life from the basic national values that have been laid down by the nation's founders in what is called Pancasila and the 1945 Constitution. This is what makes our last national life experiencing structural damage," said Din at NasDem Tower, Central Jakarta, Monday, November 6. Therefore, Din and a number of leaders of Islamic organizations that he brought to this meeting saw the idea of restoring the changes carried by NasDem in the 2024 General Election as the right choice. "Alhamdulillah, we received a more comprehensive explanation from Pak Surya Paloh. For that, Islamic organizations according to their respective independence can understand and be in the mind there," he said. On that occasion, Din also commented on the polemic of alleged ethical violations of the Constitutional Court (MK) judges over a decision that allowed regional heads not yet 40 years old to run as presidential and vice-presidential candidates. According to him, the decision of the Constitutional Court which passed the Mayor of Solo, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, to run as vice presidential candidate, Prabowo Subianto's companion, was not appropriate. Because, in Din's view, the Constitutional Court is not authorized to issue new norms in its decision. "So if the Constitutional Court, conclude and let alone issue a decision such as a fatwa, not a matter of age, has led to become the regional head and governor, regent, mayor, it is a new decision," said Din. "Even if it is used as a requirement, it deserves to have finished leading. Don't take the lead for just a month, then it has entered the criteria," he continued. During his visit to NasDem Tower, Din's arrival was immediately welcomed by the Secretary General of the NasDem Party, Hermawi Taslim, Chairman of the NasDem Party DPP Effendi Choiri, and a number of party officials. Shortly after, Surya Paloh arrived in the meeting room and greeted several religious leaders who were present. Surya Paloh welcomed Din with a warm smile and hugged her. Apart from Din, there were also mass organizations figures, such as Deputy Chairperson of the DPP Parmusi Husnan Bey Fananie, Deputy Chairman of the MUI Advisory Council Muhyidin Junaidi, General Chairperson of PP Al-Wahdah Zaitun Rasmin, and General Chairperson of PP Al Ityhadiyah Nuruzzaman.
