Palestinian Defense Action, Anies Calls On The World To Block Diplomacy To Israel

JAKARTA - Former DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan called for an oration in the Palestinian defense action in the National Monument (Monas) area, Central Jakarta.

In his oration, Anies asked countries in the world to block diplomacy to Israel if it continued to intensify attacks on Gaza and make more Palestinians fall victim.

"Let's all move as well as move to carry out a diplomatic blockade on Israel, demand a ceasefire, and hold them accountable. That's our message to the world," said Anies, Sunday, November 5.

On the one hand, Anies also urged Israel to open the closure of access on the Gaza Strip so that Palestinians could receive assistance from all over the world.

"That's why all of us are inflamed to open blockades in Gaza. Let help come in, let the people in Gaza get what they need," said Anies.

A number of figures attended this activity. Among them are Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Muhadjir Effendy, Indonesian Minister of Religion Yaqut Cholil Qoumas, Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi, 10th and 12th Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia Jusuf Kalla.

Also present were MUI Deputy Chairperson Anwar Abbas, Imam Besar Istiqlal Mosque Nasaruddin Umar, Deputy Chairman of the Indonesian People's Consultative Assembly Jazilul Fawaid, to former DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan.

Interfaith leaders were also present in the Palestinian defense action. This action was coordinated by the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI). Ministers and state officials also held speeches to defend Palestine from Israeli colonialism. The Palestinian and Indonesian flag flies throughout the Monas area.
