JAKARTA - The vice presidential candidate (cawapres) Muhaimin Iskandar (Cak Imin) asked President Joko Widodo to be neutral in the implementation of the 2024 presidential election. Likewise with state officials.

Bearing in mind, Jokowi has invited lunch with the three presidential candidates, namely Prabowo Subianto, Ganjar Pranowo, and Anies Baswedan at the Merdeka Palace some time ago.

"I hope that the president's commitment is a determination made by all levels of apparatus, be it civilians, the National Police and the TNI to be neutral," said Cak Imin at the PKB DPP office, Central Jakarta, Friday, November 3.

Cak Imin considers this lunch invitation to be seen as Jokowi's way of not taking sides with one of the 2024 presidential election candidates.

"I see that the president's meeting with the three candidates is the president's good intention to really be neutral. That's what we arrested. So, all parties can be used as a guide," said Cak Imin.

The General Chairperson of the PKB appealed to the entire community to actively control so that partiality and abuse of apparatus does not occur in the implementation of general elections.

"Again, community control is very important and I am sure that if there are violations and are immediately conveyed to the public, they will receive a positive response from the president," he explained.

Previously, after lunch with Jokowi, Anies Baswedan admitted that he had aspirations from the people he met to order Jokowi. Anies asked Jokowi to maintain his neutrality as head of state in the implementation of the 2024 General Election.

"We often meet many people who love the president. Those who love this message to the president can maintain neutrality, and emphasize to all officers to maintain neutrality in the presidential election, elections," said Anies at the Presidential Palace, Monday, October 30.

Jokowi, continued Anies, replied that he had gathered officials such as regional heads to TNI and Polri officers to also maintain neutrality.

"We see that is an important message that can make our presidential election tomorrow run safely, peacefully, because all elements of the organizers show a neutral, professional attitude," explained Anies.

"So that's one of the things we conveyed to him and he responded positively, well, so that our discussion was also smooth," he added.
