JAKARTA - The National Amil Zakat Agency (Baznas) sent 21 tons of logistical assistance to the Palestinian people who were victims of Israeli military aggression attacks.

"For this first stage, we sent approximately 21 tons of logistics, in the form of food, then the need for medicine, children's nutritional needs, as well as children's needs, such as pampers, milk, and we also prepared hygiene kits (cleaning sets)," said the Head of Baznas for Distribution and Empowerment of Saidah Sakwan as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, November 2.

Baznas also sent clothes and blankets to prepare them for winter.

"So we sent towels, blankets, jackets for winter, head coverings, we prepared that so that the friends there can get good service," he said.

The logistics were sent using two container cars from Baznas office to Halim Perdanakusuma Airport in Jakarta, to be sent to Gaza, Palestine on Saturday (4/11).

"This shipment uses a Hercules TNI AU aircraft and will be coordinated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to ensure that this assistance is distributed on target," he said. The process of sending more than 20 tons of logistical assistance at Halim Airport, he said, is scheduled to be led and released directly by President Joko Widodo.

The funds issued for the first phase of assistance, he said, reached IDR 5.5 billion which was obtained from collaboration with a number of parties, such as amil zakat institutions in Indonesia and domestic private companies.

"Our source of funds from Baznas funds institutionally, we also get support from various parties, amil zakat institutions, as well as corporations," he said.

He said the distribution of aid was a movement to humanize humans and a form of concern for the Indonesian government in restoring the smile and spirit of independence of the Palestinian people.

"This is part of our efforts to give a smile, give hope, that there are still Palestinian people in Indonesia who still care about the victims in Gaza," he said.
