JAKARTA - Chairman of the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) Kaesang Pangarep has invited his brother, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, to join his party.

Kaesang invited Gibran because currently his eldest brother's membership status at the PDI Perjuangan (PDIP) was not clear after the Surakarta mayor became a candidate for vice president to accompany the presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto who was promoted by the Advanced Indonesia Coalition (KIM).

"Mr. Wali (Gibran) is the answer. Do you want to (join PSI)? Mas guardian? Yes, the answer is only, yes. That's all," said Kaesang after visiting Jokowi's volunteer organ post, Timbul Sehati Indonesia, on Jalan Purification Dalam, Bendungan Hilir, Jakarta, Thursday.

Meanwhile, the Golkar Party also hopes that Gibran will join the party bearing the banyan tree in the midst of unclear status in the PDI-P.

Previously, PDI-P DPP chairman Ahmad Basarah said his party was still waiting for political ethics from Gibran Rakabuming Raka to return the PDI-P Membership Card (KTA).

The ethics were deemed necessary after the eldest son of President Joko Widodo became the vice presidential candidate promoted by KIM.

"So, without the official letter of dismissal of Mas Gibran from the PDI-P DPP, it is actually politically ethical, from within his heart, and from the public assessment, Mas Gibran has left the PDI-P itself," said Basarah.

Gibran's decision to run as a vice presidential candidate promoted by KIM deviated from the PDI-P's decision line.

The General Elections Commission (KPU) has received registrations for three presidential and vice presidential pairs for the 2024 presidential election, namely Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar, Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud MD, and Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka.

The Anies-Muhaimin pair was promoted by the NasDem Party, the National Awakening Party (PKB), the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS), and the Ummah Party.

The Ganjar-Mahfud pair was promoted by the DPI Perjuangan, the United Development Party (PPP), the Perindo Party, and the People's Conscience Party (Hanura).

Meanwhile, the Prabowo-Gibran pair were promoted by the Gerindra Party, the Golkar Party, the National Mandate Party (PAN), the Democratic Party, the Crescent Star Party (PBB), the Gelora Party, the Garuda Party, and the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI), and the People's Fair and Prosperous Party (Prima) who did not qualify to participate in the 2024 General Election.

The Indonesian KPU has set an election campaign period from November 28, 2023 to February 10, 2024, while the vote is scheduled for February 14, 2024.
