The Impact Of The Jalupang TPA On Fire, There Is A Piles Of Waste In Temporary Shelters

KARAWANG - The Karawang Regency Government in West Java Province anticipates the problem of waste that arose due to a fire at the Jalupang Final Disposal Site (TPA) on Saturday afternoon, October 28.

"Of course, the waste disposal activity to the TPA is disrupted. But, for the time being, we will focus on the blackout process first," said Head of the Karawang Wawan Regency Environment and Hygiene Service, Sunday, October 29.

The fire fighting team, which includes officers from the Regional Disaster Management Agency, TNI, and Polri as of Sunday morning, is still trying to extinguish the fire at the Jalupang TPA, which is located in Wancimekar Village, Kotabaru District.

Wawan stated that the process of extinguishing the fire at the garbage collection facility may not be completed within a day or two.

During the handling of the fire, garbage cannot be transported to the Jalupang TPA. Under these conditions, garbage can accumulate in temporary waste shelters.

"We will soon find a solution. We will look for alternative waste disposal," said Wawan.

The Jalupang TPA covers about 10 hectares. Piles of garbage in the facility are mounting up to about 15 meters high.

Head of the Fire and Rescue Division of the Karawang Regency BPBD, Rohmat Ilyas, said that the high pile of garbage in the Jalupang TPA area made it difficult for officers to extinguish the fire.
