Regency Government Will Fulfill 8 Basic Needs 38 Villages In Purbalingga With Extreme Poverty Status

A total of 38 villages in Purbalingga Regency, Central Java (Central Java), are still in extreme poverty status. Purbalingga Regent Dyah Hayuning Pratiwi said his party would focus on dealing with the dozens of villages.

The Regent said, based on data from the Central Statistics Agency, extreme poverty in Purbalingga Regency in 2022 was recorded at 2.19 percent.

"Therefore, the Purbalingga Regency Government focuses on fulfilling eight basic needs in handling extreme poverty," he said in a written statement, Friday, October 27, which was confiscated by Antara.

According to him, the eight basic needs that must be met for households classified as extreme poor are in the form of habitable houses, electricity, access to clean water, latrines, schools, disability interventions, occupations, and stunting risk interventions.

Thus, he said, the 2024 Purbalingga Regency APBD was directed to handle the eight indicators that became basic needs.

Furthermore, the Regent said that based on the evaluation of the eight basic needs that must be met, three of them could be resolved immediately by looking at existing funding sources.

"The three needs are in the form of livable houses, disability interventions, and stunting risk interventions," he said.

Five other needs are still a problem because for the new 53 percent access to electricity that is handled, only 28 percent access to clean water is handled, the current latrine problem is only 69 percent, there are still 243 children for non-school children (ATS), and 23 percent for handling unemployment.

According to him, reducing extreme poverty also requires the role of the village government.

Therefore, his party is ready to make regulations related to the direction of the Village Fund to assist local governments in handling extreme poverty so that village governments do not deviate from these eight indicators when determining the poverty rate of their citizens.

"Tomorrow every year for villages with maximum efforts to reduce poverty, we will give rewards in the form of special financial assistance," he said.
