Rental Apartment In Bekasi City For Synthetic Tobacco Production, Tambun Residents Arrested By Police

The Bekasi Metropolitan Resort Police (Polres) arrested a resident of Jatimulya Village, South Tambun District, with the initials JJ (29), a synthetic tobacco-type narcotics producer in an apartment in Bekasi City, West Java (West Java).

Bekasi Metro Police Chief Commissioner (Kombes) Twedy Aditya Benyahdi said JJ's arrest was thanks to the results of the development of public information plus the confession of a number of suspects in narcotics abuse cases who had been arrested using social media Instagram.

"From the results of the investigation, it is known that the alleged perpetrator JJ rented an apartment room in the Bekasi City area to be used as a production site for synthetic narcotics from raw materials to be ready to sell," he said at the Bekasi Metro Police Headquarters, Thursday, October 26.

Officers managed to secure a number of evidences from JJ's arrest, including synthetic tobacco ready to sell weighing 117.10 grams, raw materials for 75.90 grams of tobacco, 125.4 grams of ordinary tobacco, and 615.8 grams of aroma tobacco.

Then, one glass bowl, one clear jar, two red and white sprays, one plastic snack packaging, one large clear plastic, one set of padir paper, and three bottles of one liter alcohol.

"The distribution of sales through Instagram online media will then be placed at a certain point, adjusted to the maps so that buyers can easily get them but remain hidden," he said.

Twedy admitted that apart from securing JJ, in less than a month from mid-September to early October 2023, officers managed to secure five other narcotics abuse perpetrators from a number of locations.

They are FJ (37), IFU (28), JC (29), MM (30), and I (36). From the hands of the six perpetrators including JJ, the police secured various types of narcotics such as marijuana, methamphetamine, and synthetic tobacco with a value of Rp. 4.4 billion.

"They were charged with Article 114 of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 35 of 2009 with the threat of a maximum imprisonment of 20 years," he said.
