PDIP Basarah Chairman: Head Of Supporting Political Parties Ganjar Select Mahfud MD Not Because Of Personal Considerations Especially Groups

JAKARTA - Chairman of the PDI-P DPP (PDIP) Ahmad Basarah confirmed that the election of Mahfud MD as a candidate for vice president (cawapres) to accompany Ganjar Pranowo in the 2024 presidential election was not for his own benefit.

The general chairmen of the supporting parties saw the track record of the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam) being considered capable. Therefore Mahfud is considered appropriate to accompany Ganjar.

"Mrs. Mega (Governor of PDIP Megawati Soekarnoputri) and other chairmen of political parties have thought about choosing presidential and vice presidential candidates whose background is integrity, competence, capability, and is considered capable to lead this nation. Not because of personal considerations, groups, let alone groups," Basarah told reporters at the High End building, Kebon Sirih, Jakarta, Wednesday, October 25.

Basarah believes that in the future they will be able to reach voter niches. Moreover, if volunteers have moved with the National Winning Team (TPN) Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud MD.

"We are very confident that Mas Ganjar and Professor Mahfud MD's electability spectrum is national, covering all groups of people, ethnicity, race, generation, and so on," he said.

Moreover, Mahfud as Ganjar's companion is considered a complete figure. "He is a human trias of politics," said Basarah.

"Prof Mahfud was once Minister of Defense President Abdurrahman Wahid, Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs President Jokowi, member of the Indonesian House of Representatives, and Chairman of the Constitutional Court," continued the member of the DPR RI.

Then Mahfud was judged as a person who had a voice in East Java and from the Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) circles. "So choosing Pak Mahfud is really considered to be dedicated to the interests of the nation and state," he said.

"Not for the benefit of Mrs. Mega's family, the general chairman of other political parties, groups, let alone groups," concluded Basarah.
