JAKARTA - The Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) has asked all local governments (Pemda) to immediately budget for the APBD for the 2024 General Election.
Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) Tito Karnavian said that each region is required to prepare an APBD budget for elections with details of 40 percent this year and 60 percent in 2024.
"So, technically for the election, later there will be submissions from each Bawaslu and related parties to the regional head. After that, there is verification whether the proposed funds make sense or not, if they are rational, they will enter the next stage," he said when opening the National Coordination Meeting for Population and Civil Registration 2023, in a written statement, Wednesday, October 25.
He explained, for election preparation, the Population and Civil Registration Service (Dukcapil) is required to provide data on the list of potential electoral populations or DP4.
"The data has been submitted to the General Election Commission (KPU) since early December 2022 to be submitted to each province, district and city so that each region can determine the number of voters including novice voters," he said.
Meanwhile, Acting Governor of South Sumatra (Sumsel) Agus Fatoni admitted that in preparation for the regional elections, his party had asked each regional government to refocus the budget from unexpected expenditures (BTT).
"In accordance with instructions from the Ministry of Home Affairs, and the budget prepared this year is 40 percent and in 2024 60 percent and this is followed by fellow mayors in South Sumatra," he said.
He explained that currently the number of people who are required to have an ID card in South Sumatra has reached 6.25 million, with details of 3.12 men and 3.13 million women and 96.6 percent of the recording.
Fatoni admits that until now the realization of the APBD in South Sumatra still requires optimization. This is because the realization of revenue to date has only reached 61.92 percent with the total realization of expenditure still relatively low at 54.97 percent.
"It's a tough homework for us, but with a little time we will work hard to maximize all of this," he said.
