Investigate SYL Extortion Case, Polda Metro Check 3 Witnesses Today

Polda Metro Jaya examined three witnesses in a series of investigations into the alleged extortion case carried out by the leadership of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) against the former Minister of Agriculture, Syharul Yasin Limpo or SYL, today.

Director of Special Criminal Investigation of Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Ade Safri Simanjuntak said one of the three witnesses was an aide to an echelon 1 official at the Ministry of Agriculture.

"There is a plan for 3 witnesses to be examined, one of which is an aide from echelon I of the Ministry of Agriculture," said Ade when confirmed, Monday, October 23.

The examination of the aide was because he previously did not answer the summons on October 18. At that time, of the six people who asked to attend, only five fulfilled it.

However, regarding the identity of the aide, Ade was reluctant to convey it. The reason, for the purposes of the process of handling the alleged extortion case.

It is only conveyed that the examination process of the three witnesses will begin at 10.00 WIB.

During the investigation process, around 52 witnesses have been questioned. Some of them are KPK employees.

Then, there was also the Semarang Police Chief Kombes Irwan Anwar and Syahrul Yasin Limpo who were questioned at the initial stage of the investigation process.

"Of the 52 witnesses that we have examined or requested information from 8 KPK employees," said Ade.

The series of cases of alleged extortion or acceptance of gratuities by the KPK leadership against Syahrul Yasin Limpo began when Polda Metro Jaya received Dumas on August 12, 2023.

With the complaint, the Tipidkor Sub-Directorate of the Ditreskrimsus Polda Metro Jaya collected information on the basis of a statement collection order (pulbaket) issued on Tuesday, August 15, 2023.

Not long after, investigators issued an investigation warrant on August 21. At this stage, a number of witnesses were examined, one of which was SYL.

Then, after the series of investigations were completed, investigators carried out a case title. As a result, a criminal element was found so that the status of the case was upgraded to the investigation stage.
