Jokowi Calls Silat College Has An Important Task Of Creating National Security

SURABAYA - President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo (Jokowi) said that all silat universities have a duty and role in realizing the security and comfort conditions of all Indonesian people.

"I entrust everyone to guard, don't let the pencak silat college fight, fight, don't," said President Jokowi in his speech on the agenda of "Ijazah Kubro and the Inauguration of the Central Leadership (PP) Pagar Nusa Masa Khidmat 2023-2028" which was held by the Head of the Pagar Nusa Center, at Jala Krida Mandala Field, Surabaya, Sunday, October 22.

This directive specifically applies to Pagar Nusa, which is an Autonomous Agency (Banom) under the auspices of Nadhlatul Ulama (NU).

Therefore, the president believes that all the warriors of Pagar Nusa adhere to the spirit of unity and be able to become a medium bridge for all silat colleges.

Furthermore, when the spirit of unity can be applied, it strengthens the steps of the Indonesian nation to face the challenges and obstacles that develop in the era of the times.

"I'm sure Pagar Nusa is not like that, it's precisely guarding and reconciling," he said.

Jokowi again emphasized that to maintain the sovereignty of the country, all silat universities, including Pagar Nusa, have a responsibility for maintaining state stability.

"We are all one brother, we are all a congregation and a devil," said the president.

As is known, President Jokowi attended the "Ijazah Kubro and the Inauguration of the Central Leadership (PP) of Pagar Nusa Masa Khidmat 2023-2028".

Jokowi came accompanied by a number of officials and leaders of Nahdlatul Ulama (NU), such as PBNU General Chair KH Yahya Cholil Staquf, PBNU Secretary General Saifullah Yusuf or Gus Ipul, State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Minister Erick Thohir, Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto, and Minister of Religion Yaqut Cholil Qoumas.

Then also the TNI Commander Admiral Yudo Margono, National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, General Chairperson of PP Pagar Nusa M Nabil Haroen, East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa, to Surabaya Deputy Mayor Armuji.

On that occasion, Jokowi stated that the administrators of Pagar Nusa during the solemn period 2023-2028 could draw up a program to strengthen national character for the warriors to help efforts to maintain the unity of the archipelago from all potential threats.
