Mahfud MD: Weak Law Enforcement Becomes A National Problem

JAKARTA - The vice presidential candidate (cawapres) Mahfud MD assesses that weak law enforcement is a problem for the Indonesian nation so that it must be resolved immediately.

"If law enforcement in Indonesia goes well and correctly, then half of the nation's problems will be resolved," Mahfud said in the Declaration of Ganjar Mahfud 2024, Wednesday, October 18.

He said if law enforcement went well, other problems would be resolved from economy to trade.

According to Mahfud, the government must be able to provide firm legal certainty to the top, namely big entrepreneurs and rulers or elites.

In addition, the government must also be able to provide legal protection to the grassroots community.

Mahfud invites the entire community to "clean up" Indonesia from corruption by enforcing the law properly and correctly.

"The problem is that law enforcement, instruments or tools are good, it's just enforcement in accordance with the law," he said.

Mahfud said Indonesia has 17,508 islands and 276 million inhabitants, an extraordinary amount in welcoming the 2045 demographic bonus.

"The wealth of natural resources owned by this nation must be managed properly, starting from mines, tins, gold, nickel and others managed for Indonesia, so this nation has been prosperous for a long time," he said.
