Commissioner And Seller Of Illegal Firearms In Bengkulu Sued 2 Years In Prison

BENGKULU - The Public Prosecutor (JPU) of the Bengkulu High Prosecutor's Office (Kejati) demanded two years in prison for the defendant AM (51 years) who illegally assembled and sold homemade firearms.

Meanwhile, the four defendants who bought and owned other illegal firearms were each one year in prison.

"Declaring that the defendants are guilty of committing a criminal act of committing it, ordering them to do and participate without the right to enter Indonesia, making, receiving and trying to obtain, handing over or controlling, carrying and storing a firearm, ammunition or explosives," said Bengkulu Attorney General's Office Alexander Zaldi as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, October 18.

The five defendants are believed to have been proven to have violated Article 1 Paragraph (1) of the Emergency Law Number 12 of 1951 Junto 55 Paragraph 1 to 1 of the Criminal Code.

Alexander explained the high demand for AM was because the defendant had enjoyed the results of making the homemade firearms.

Meanwhile, the things that eased the five defendants were not proven to endanger human lives and were used by the defendants to hunt wild boars and protect themselves.

Previously, in April 2023, the Bengkulu Police revealed the case of a house in the firearms industry in Padang Guci Hilir District, Kaur Regency by confiscating and destroying 102 illegal firearms and arresting five suspects.

Bengkulu Police Chief Inspector General Armed Wijaya said the disclosure of the case was revealed when his party received reports from the public that in Kaur Regency, Bengkulu Province, there was an illegal firearms industry house.

For the illegal firearms house industry owned by AM, it has been producing illegal firearms since 2012 in Kaur Regency and serving closed purchases.

Of the 102 illegal firearms consist of 95 illegal long firearms and seven illegal firearms.

Meanwhile, from the arrest of the five suspects, his party also confiscated 339 rounds of illegal ammunition, 143 rounds of illegal casings, four projectiles, firearms makers, one electric welding machine, two sitting drills, one bubut machine unit.

Furthermore, two units of Gerinda machines, 47 units of sandpiles, 13 units of cutting machine, two units of iron drills, seven units of sat drills, one unit of drill machine key, two units of electric welding machine, 29 points of bubut eye.

Then two units of illegal firearms, six units of short-barreled illegal firearms, one unit of protection for illegal firearms, three units of slides with illegal firearms, one unit of iron markers, seven units of iron strip plates, 39 units per megazine short-barreled, two units of triggering, four units per slide and three units per barrel of short weapons.
