JAKARTA - Head of the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency, Syafrin Liputo, admitted that his party revoked the stick cone for the bicycle lane barrier on 10 roads in the capital city. The revocation of the stick cone was carried out because there was damage based on community reports.

"There is a public complaint in the CRM system (Cepat Respons Masyarakat) to be followed up. Because the stick cone is damaged, it is done with the lifting of the stick cone," said Syafrin in his statement, Tuesday, October 17.

The gradually lifted bicycle lane barriers were carried out on Jalan Army Students, Jalan Kramat Raya, Jalan Hos Cokroaminoto, Jalan Ahmad Yani, Jalan DI Panjaitan, Jalan Purification, Jalan Salemba Raya, Jalan Perintis Kemerdekaan, Jalan RP Soeroso, Jalan Dr. Sutomo, Jalan Tugu Tani, Jalan Teuku Cik Ditiro, and Jalan Soldier KKO Usman.

The reason for the removal of the stick cone was because it was damaged which was caused by being hit by a motorized vehicle. Syafrin admitted that his party also did not know when the damage would occur.

"The results of the survey by field officers for the Traffic Sector showed that there was a stick cone damaged when hit by a motorized vehicle," said Syafrin.

Furthermore, Syafrin explained that the removal of the damaged stick cone was a step to ensure the safety of cyclists and other road users on the road so that there were no traffic accidents.

Recently, a video of the removal of a bicycle lane stick cone on Jalan Army Student, Jakarta, has gone viral on Instagram social media. The video upload received negative responses and oblique comments from a number of netizens.

Clarifying this, Head of the Traffic Engineering Section of the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency, Hendry Sampurna, said that the stick cone segmentation on Jalan Army Students released by Dishub officers was damaged due to being hit by a vehicle.

"Some have been hit by motorized vehicles, some segments have prostrate (fraid), because they were hit, so we have to make repairs," said Hendry on Monday, October 16.

Improvements made by his party by removing several broken sticks cones in several segments.

"If we don't repair the pull-off in several segments, it will actually cause problems that are not good for cyclists. So there are several segments that are hit, we will pull them out," he said.
