Stick Cone Bike Paths Are Not Permanently Released, But New Replaced Because Damaged By Cars

JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency (Dishub) said that thousands of bicycle lane cones on a number of roads in Jakarta were damaged due to being hit by a vehicle.

Due to the damage, several bicycle lanes that used damaged stick cone barriers were replaced using road markings.

"All areas in DKI have thousands of sticks cone damaged. The damage to the stick cone due to being hit by a car. One of them is on Jalan Army Pelajar, later I will check how much is damaged," said Head of the Traffic Engineering Section of the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency (Dishub), Hendry Sampurna to VOI, Tuesday, October 17.

Hendry said that all segmentation of the stick cone that divides bicycle lanes that are damaged must be removed so as not to endanger cyclists.

"We need to remove all segmentations (the broken stick cone limit points for bicycle lanes) so as not to endanger cyclists. Instead of eliminating them, because (stick cone was damaged) was hit," he said.

Hendry said that in the future, his party is still making improvements to the cyclists' lane barriers that were damaged by being hit by a vehicle.

"Later, we will repair several more, to prioritize cyclists. We are preparing to install road markings as a warning for motorized vehicles that it is a bicycle lane," he said.

Previously, a video of the removal of a bicycle lane stick cone on Jalan Army Student, Jakarta, went viral on Instagram social media. The video upload received negative responses and oblique comments from a number of netizens.
