Mothers In Magelang Find It Difficult To Give Birth Alone And Throw Babies On The Terrace Of Residents' Houses

The Criminal Investigation Unit (Satreskrim) of the Magelang City Police revealed the findings of a three-day-old baby boy on the terrace of Mahatma Adi Dharma's house (29), a resident of Polosari, Kedungsari Village, Central Magelang District, Magelang City, Central Java. The perpetrator, the baby's mother, had the heart to throw away her baby due to economic problems.

In order to be unknown to local residents, in the video, the perpetrator can be seen wearing a white mukena walking carrying a cardboard box containing a baby.

Magelang City Police Chief, AKBP Yolanda Evalyn Sebayang, explained that the disclosure of the case began with a resident's report on the discovery of a baby on the terrace of the house.

Following up on the report, as well as CCTV at the location, the police immediately acted quickly and secured the perpetrators of throwing a tiny baby boy two days after the incident.

"We checked the entire neighborhood of the village and checked all existing hospitals with babies born. After being found in the search, the results of the examination with the mother, she gave birth herself by cutting her leaves at the house where she works," said Yolanda.

In addition to arresting the perpetrators who worked as caregivers for the elderly, the police also secured a number of other evidences, such as cardboard boxes where the baby was put, a baby blanket, and a box of formula milk.

Yolanda added that the motive for throwing away the baby was due to economic problems because it was still caring for two young children and separating from their husbands. Although the case met criminal sanctions, the Magelang City Police decided to process the case with justice restoration.

"This mother lives where she works as a parent career who is 80 years old. The perpetrator still has two children who are 4 and 6 years old, and they live with her. So this decision is processed with justice restoration considering that the person concerned still cannot take care of his children if they are prosecuted," he added.

Although it was processed by justice restoration, the innocent baby was not returned to the perpetrator, but was handed over to the Magelang City Social Service so that someone would adopt it.

"Given the economic problems and their resolution, especially the baby who was dumped by the mother will not be returned to the mother, because she no longer wants and will not be able to raise her. We are coordinating with the social service that we will find the parents of the baby's adoption in accordance with applicable procedures and regulations," he said.

The three-day-old baby boy, who is fifty centimeters long and weighs 2.6 kilograms, was found in good health on the terrace of Mahatma Adi Dharma's house (29), a resident of Polosari, Kedungsari Village, Central Magelang District, Magelang City, Central Java last Thursday evening.
