Kaesang Responds To The Constitutional Court's Decision Regarding Regional Heads Can Be Presidential And Vice Presidential Candidates

JAKARTA - PSI General Chairperson (Ketum) Kaesang Pangarep responded to the decision of the Constitutional Court (MK) which granted part of the lawsuit filed by UNS student Almas Tsaqibbirru regarding the minimum age limit of presidential and vice presidential candidates 40 years or once as regional heads. This allows Kaesang's older brother who is also Surakarta Mayor Gibran Rakabuming Raka to run as a vice presidential candidate in the 2024 presidential election. However, Kaesang admitted that he did not know about the Constitutional Court's decision regarding the terms of the regional head. "Oh, I don't know if I know what was rejected, earlier it was 35 years old, who didn't know me," said Kaesang after meeting the Jokowi Timur Indonesia United (TIB) volunteer in Central Jakarta, Monday, October 16, was confiscated by Antara. Mahkamah mengabulkan sebagian perkara nomor 90/PUU-XXI/2023 diajukan oleh perseorangan warga negara Indonesia (WNI) bernama Almas Tsaqibbirru Re A yang berasal dari Surakarta, Jawa Tengah.Ia memohon syarat pencalonan capres dan cawapres diubah menjadi berusia paling rendah 40 tahun atau berpengalaman sebagai kepala daerah, baik di tingkat provinsi maupun kabupaten/kota.Mahkamah berkesimpulan bahwa permohonan pemohon beralasan menurut hukum untuk sebagian. Oleh sebab itu, MK menyatakan Pasal 169 huruf (q) Undang-Undang Nomor 7 Tahun 2017 tentang Pemilu bertentangan dengan UUD NRI 1945."Sehingga Pasal 169 huruf q Undang-Undang Nomor 7 Tahun 2017 tentang Pemilihan Umum selengkapnya berbunyi ‘berusia paling rendah 40 (empat puluh) tahun atau pernah/sedang menduduki jabatan yang dipilih melalui pemilihan umum termasuk pemilihan kepala daerah’," ucap Anwar.
