SURABAYA - The Surabaya City Government asked residents of the City of Heroes, East Java, to report violence against women and children to the Women and Child Protection Services Information System (SIAP-PPAK).

Head of the Surabaya City Empowerment, Women and Child Protection and Population Control and Family Planning (DP3A-PPKB) Service, Ida Widayanti, in her statement in Surabaya, said that initially the SIAP-PPAK application was used for her staff to submit reports on the results of in-depth investigations into cases that occurred in Surabaya.

"We then developed this application (SIAP-PPAK) so that it is multifunctional. One of them is that residents can carry out online consultations," said Ida.

Ida explained that SIAP-PPAK was built with several objectives, including providing services to accelerate complaints about violence against women and children as well as consultations about families.

"Then, the aim is to provide learning/communication, information and education (KIE) media in family parenting as well as preventing and handling violence against women and children through various media, both print and audio-visual," said Ida.

Ida said that SIAP-PPAK also provides information regarding registration and implementation of prospective bride and groom classes (Catin). Apart from that, it provides information related to the services of the Regional Technical Implementation Unit (UPTD) for the Protection of Women and Children (PPA), the City Family Learning Center (Puspaga) and the Neighborhood Hall Puspaga.

"SIAP-PPAK also aims to accelerate coordination to complete the provision of interventions and systematic reporting for Regional Apparatus (PD) related to women's and children's issues. In particular, towards victims of violence, including children in conflict with the law (ABH) and victims of human trafficking," she said.

"Then, to realize synergy and integration of data on handling women's and children's problems per month, per type of problem and per region in the city of Surabaya," she said.

According to her, SIAP-PPAK is a holistic, integrative application in providing services to the community, especially for the protection of women and children. Therefore, this application is also equipped with a number of services.
