KUDUS - BPBD Kudus Regency, Central Java, revealed that the fire at the PT Pura paper factory on Jalan Kudus-Pati kilometer 12 in Terban Village, Jekulo District, is currently in the cooling phase after the fire was successfully extinguished.

"The fire of the paper warehouse owned by PT Pura Persada is expected to occur on Saturday, October 14 at 14.00 WIB. After the blackout with the joint fire team, finally on Sunday, October 15, the fire began to be controlled and is now starting the cooling phase," said Head of Emergency and Logistics Section of BPBD Kudus Munaji, Antara, Sunday, October 15.

According to estimates and information from local residents, he said, the fire came from the Pura Box unit and then west to the paper raw material warehouse, then spread to the front of the two warehouses because of strong winds and flammable paper material, making the fire even bigger.

The blackout, involving three units of the BPBD Fire Department, three units of the Pol PP Fire Department, assisted by PT Nojorono, PT Pura itself deployed four fleets, then assisted by the Pati Regency Government Fire Team, PT Garuda Food, PR Sukun, Water Canon Car (dropper) of the Holy Police and Pati Police, Brimob Pati three units, and BPBD Pati.

As a result of the burning of the paper warehouse, which contained roller paper ready to sell and raw materials in the warehouse and outside the warehouse, it was also affected by estimates that the affected paper was around 4,000 square meters.

"The value of the loss is still calculated by the company's internal parties," he said.

For this incident, he appealed to the company to remain alert to potential fires, by reducing disaster risk. Especially factories that produce paper products because they are flammable, especially during the dry season like now.

According to him, factories that produce flammable products, one of which is paper, there needs to be operational standards (SOPs) for its workers to avoid potential fires.

In addition, it is necessary to prepare an evacuation route for finished goods, so it is necessary to provide a location to minimize potential losses when a fire occurs.

Fire Chief Firefighter PT Djarum Kudus Hardi Cahyana confirmed that today, Sunday, October 15, the cooling phase is still using heavy equipment.
