2 Courier 88 Grams Of Methamphetamine Demanded 10 Years In Prison

The Public Prosecutor (JPU) of the North Sumatra High Prosecutor's Office (Kejati) has demanded that the defendants Rahmansyah alias Man and Ahmad alias Amat be sentenced to 10 years in prison each in a case of couriering 88.8 grams of methamphetamine.

"Asking the panel of judges to sentence Rahmansyah alias Man and Ahmad alias Amat to 10 years in prison, a fine of Rp. 1 billion, subsidiary to six months in prison," said North Sumatra Attorney General Randi H Tambunan at the Medan District Court as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, October 12.

Randi said that based on the facts of the trial, the two defendants had fulfilled the elements of committing a criminal act that violated Article 114 paragraph (2) of Law No. 35 of 2009 concerning narcotics in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1) 1 of the Criminal Code.

The essence of the article is to commit or participate in committing criminal acts without rights or against the law offering to sell, sell, buy, accept, become intermediaries in buying and selling, exchanging, or delivering class I narcotics in the form of non-plants weighing 88.8 grams of crystal methamphetamine.

"The aggravating thing is that the actions of the two defendants are contrary to the government's program in eradicating drugs and damaging the nation's generation. As for mitigating matters, these two defendants were polite in court, regretted, felt guilty and were never punished," said Randi.

After reading the memorandum of demand from the North Sumatra Prosecutor's Office, the panel of judges chaired by Karha Happy Tarigan continued the trial next week which was scheduled with the agenda of a memorandum of defense read by legal counsel (PH) or defendant.

In the indictment revealed on July 18, 2023, North Sumatra Police Ditreskoba personnel received information about the circulation of methamphetamine from Aceh to be sold to Medan.

Then, the police officer disguised himself as buying a hidden or undercover buy by contacting Ahmad to order 100 grams. Then, the defendant invited the personnel to make a transaction in Aceh Tamiang.

However, they did not agree to meet at that location. In short, on July 23, 2023 they agreed to make a transaction on Jalan Abadi, Medan Sunggal District, Medan.

Then Ahmad took drugs from Wak Cik (in the investigation).

After getting the methamphetamine, the two defendants left for Medan to meet at the predetermined place.

Arriving in Medan, the police officers arrested two defendants along with evidence weighing 88.8 grams. As a result of the interrogation, the two defendants received a salary from the sale of Rp. 5 million.
