JAKARTA - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin did not complete his scheduled office in Papua until Friday, October 13 because he had to return to Jakarta today. Ma'ruf was about to take part in a limited meeting with President Joko Widodo.

Spokesperson for the Vice President, Masduki Baidlowi, said that Vice President Ma'ruf Amin had to return to Jakarta for a meeting with President Jokowi, his scheduled visit to Wamena and Merauke was postponed.

"As we all know, the Vice President planned to continue his visit to Wamena and Merauke, but had to postpone it because there was an important limited meeting with the President in Jakarta," said Masduki while transiting in Makassar, South Sulawesi, Antara, Thursday, October 12.

Masduki said Vice President Ma'ruf remained committed to continuing his visit to Wamena and Merauke on another occasion. Masduki also admitted that he did not know what the agenda for this important limited meeting was.

He also could not confirm whether the limited meeting was related to a cabinet reshuffle.

"I don't think I know much, because I wasn't told; however, the Vice President must be present and maybe there are very important things that will be discussed," he explained.

He also denied that the Vice President returned to Jakarta earlier than scheduled because there were movements of separatist groups in Papua.

"Nothing, Papua is safe. There is nothing to do with that," said Masduki.
