KPK Reminds Ex-Minister Of Agriculture SYL Not To Make Pretrial An Reason To Avoid Legal Process

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) stated that the pretrial lawsuit is the right of the suspects, including former Minister of Agriculture (Mentan) Syahrul Yasin Limpo. They are ready to face the legal resistance. "Because we are very confident that the KPK has sufficient evidence," said Head of the KPK News Section Ali Fikri to reporters at the KPK's Red and White Building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Wednesday, October 11. Ali also ensured that the investigation into allegations of corruption at the Ministry of Agriculture had been carried out according to procedures. “Both with the criminal procedural law of the KPK Law and the KPK SOP itself. But once again, of course, we cannot limit it regarding this, please test the pretrial process. The KPK is present and ready to face it," he said. Even so, Ali reminded that this pretrial lawsuit did not become Syahrul's mode of avoiding investigations at the KPK. The NasDem Party politician was asked to cooperate following the ongoing legal process. "And we also hope that this pretrial is not one of the modes to avoid the investigation process carried out by the KPK. Because once again we still appreciate what is conveyed. The commitment will continue to follow the process at the KPK," he explained.

As previously reported, Syahrul fought the KPK at the South Jakarta District Court (PN). South Jakarta District Court Public Relations Officer Djumyanto said this pretrial lawsuit was registered under Number 114/Pid.Pra/2023/PN JKT.SEL. This lawsuit was filed because of his status as a suspect in the Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan) corruption case. The first trial will be chaired by Judge Alimin Ribut Sujono and will be held Monday, October 30.
