Most Of The TPS In Papua Mountains Use The Noken System

MERAUKE - The head of the Papua Mountains KPU, Theodorus Kossay, said that most polling stations (TPS) in simultaneous elections still use the noken system.

It is true that the noken system is still being used in most of the polling stations spread across eight districts in the Papua Mountains region. "Only TPS is in the district capital that conducts direct voting," he said, quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, October 11.

In Papua, there are 5,651 polling stations spread across eight regencies. Of the eight districts, only two stated that they did not use the noken system, namely Yalimo and the Bintang Mountains.

"It was recorded that 888 polling stations in the Bintang Mountains and Yalimo did not use the noken system," said Kossay.

For Nduga Regency, all TPS use a connective system. In Nduga Regency there are 97,916 voters with 465 polling stations spread across 32 districts and 248 villages.

"Eight regencies that enter the Papua Mountains Province are Bintang Mountains Regency, Yalimo Regency, Jayawijaya Regency, Yahukimo Regency, Tolikara Regency, Lanny Jaya Regency, and Central Mamberamo Regency, with the number of DPT reaching 1,306,414 voters," he said.
