JAKARTA - The National Political Indicator Survey Institute (IPN) released the latest research results showing the electability of presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto is considered to have decreased, if paired with the Mayor of Solo, Gibran Rakabuming Raka.

IPN Research Director, Wahyu Sanjaya, explained that Prabowo Subianto always topped the highest electability compared to Ganjar Pranowo and Anies Baswedan.

"However, if combined with existing couples, such as Prabowo - Gibran, the interest of respondents in choosing is actually decreasing compared to when juxtaposed with the Governor of East Java, Khofifah Indar Parawansa, or Minister of SOEs, Erick Thohir," he explained, quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, October 10.

According to the survey results, if Prabowo is paired with Khofifah, he will get 62.4 percent electability. Then, Prabowo and Erick were 16.3 percent.

Meanwhile, Prabowo and Gibran's pair with 5.1 percent of the votes and those at the bottom were Prabowow and Airlangga at 2.8 percent. However, there are still those who have not made a choice or did not answer, which is 13.4 percent.

Sanjaya explained another reason Prabowo's electability decreased, where the majority of respondents or as many as 67.7 percent did not support and were very disfavorable if Prabowo Subianto chose Gibran as a partner.

Meanwhile, only a small part or 11 percent only support Gibran as Prabowo's partner. Then, those who have not made a choice or did not answer as many as 20.3 percent of respondents.

Furthermore, if Prabowo continues to force Gibran as his vice presidential candidate, then as many as 60.1 percent of respondents will transfer their support to other candidates.

"Respondents who still chose Prabowo Subianto and Gibran only had 10.3 percent of respondents left and those who chose not to answer or did not know as much as 29.6 percent," he said.

The National Political Indicators public survey was held 12-26 September 2023, taking the population of Indonesian citizens who have the right to vote in elections, in 34 provinces in Indonesia. Of the population, 1,500 respondents were randomly selected, with a margin of error of 3.05 percent at a 95 percent confidence level.

The methodology of vote collection uses multistage random sampling or sampling using a combination of 2 (two) or more different sampling methods. Respondents were interviewed by telephone by the National Political Indicators survey team.
