Banjarmasin Prosecutor's Office Set 2 BPOM Corruption Suspect Contractors

JAKARTA - The Banjarmasin District Attorney (Kejari), South Kalimantan has named two contractors as suspects in the alleged corruption case in the construction of a laboratory building and public services at the Banjarmasin Food and Drug Supervisory Center (BBPOM) in Banjarbaru City.

"The suspects have the initials RMA and HS," said Head of Special Investigation Unit of the Banjarmasin Kejari, Arri HD Wokas, as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, October 12.

RMA currently has the status of a corruption convict as an inmate at the Makassar Class I Correctional Institution (Lapas).

Therefore, the Banjarmasin Kejari has requested the transfer of the person concerned to the Class IIA Banjarmasin Prison to facilitate the examination process until the trial later.

Meanwhile, HS as of Monday (9/10) has been detained in Banjarmasin Prison for the next 20 days.

Arri explained that the value of state losses from the case is still in the process of being calculated.

According to him, the process of building the BBPOMBanjarmasin building located in the offices of the Regional Secretariat of South Kalimantan Province in Banjarbaru took place from 2018 to 2023 with different contractors every year.

In this case, the suspect RMA worked on it in 2019 with a project value of around Rp. 19 billion.

Meanwhile, suspect HS was involved in the work in 2021 with a budget value of IDR 11 billion.

"So the two suspects are suspected of reducing the volume of work," explained Arri accompanied by the Head of Intelligence at the Banjarmasin Kejari Dimas Purnama Putra.

The investigation warrant in this case was signed by the Head of the Banjarmasin District Attorney's Office, Indah Laila, on January 2, 2023, after a public complaint was made to the Attorney General's Office which was then forwarded to the Kalimantan Sel High Prosecutor's Office.
