Bambang Soesatyo, wants a Neutral ASN (IST)

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Indonesian House of Representatives Bambang Soesatyo reminded government officials, especially local governments in 10 provinces to maintain neutrality in holding elections. This was conveyed by Bambang, responding to the 2024 Election Insecurity Index or IKP by the General Election Supervisory Agency recently, October 9.

The General Election Supervisory Agency stated that there were 10 provinces, namely; North Maluku, North Sulawesi, Banten, South Sulawesi, East Nusa Tenggara, East Kalimantan, West Java, West Sumatra, Gorontalo, and Lampung have the potential for high vulnerabilities to violate neutrality by ASN.

Therefore, Bambang asked the government officials, especially local governments in the 10 provinces to highlight and make the results of the 2024 IKP as a further evaluation material. "So that efforts to monitor the neutrality of ASN within the scope of government agencies can be further improved or improved," he said.

He also asked local governments to be more concerned in providing inherent supervision of ASN neutrality, especially before the 2024 General Election, considering that local governments play an important role in the neutrality of ASN because they have the authority. Starting from the preparation of programs to the allocation of budgets to carry out various activities, either for Pilkada or not.

Bambang also asked Bawaslu to continue to build connectivity and synergy of ASN neutrality control with all elements of government. "This is important to minimize violations of ASN neutrality which often occur in every election, both presidential, legislative, and regional head elections," he said.

He reminded the government, in this case the Kemenpan RB, to also continue to appeal to heads of government institutions and agencies to remind ASN employees to continue to prioritize neutrality that is free from practical political practices, as stipulated in Law Number 5 of 2014 concerning State Civil Apparatus according to the Circular Letter (SE) of Menpan RB No. B/71/M.SM.00/2017 which regulates the prohibition for ASN to side with participants and affiliate with certain political parties.
