Gerindra Ensures Gibran's Proposal To Become A Vice Presidential Candidate Will Be Discussed By Prabowo With The Coalition

JAKARTA - Secretary-General of the Gerindra Party Ahmad Muzani responded to the declaration of the volunteers of Jokowi's Young Ulama Solidarity (Samawi) to Prabowo Subianto as a candidate for president in the 2024 General Election as well as proposing that Solo Mayor Gibran Rakabuming Raka as his companion.

Muzani considers Samawi's support to be a form of support from President Jokowi.

"The name Gibran appeared in the statement of Samawi. The conclusion (in thesamawi meeting) supports Pak Prabowo as a presidential candidate in 2024, because Pak Prabowo is considered to be a person who has the ability, seriousness, to continue Pak Jokowi's struggle line. However, Samawi also asked that the vice presidential candidate is Mas Gibran," said Muzani in Central Jakarta, Monday, October 9.

"I consider it (Samawi's declaration) as support (President Jokowi)," he continued.

Muzani said Prabowo respects Samawi's thoughts and views regarding Gibran. However, he said, Samawi's aspirations must be discussed together with the coalition parties.

According to him, all the names of the vice presidents who enter from various components of the nation such as figures, coalition parties, volunteers and others are people who want to advance the nation.

"Of course, so that this decision becomes a joint decision, including the name of Mas Gibran and other names later by Pak Prabowo, it will be submitted on the table to be discussed together," explained Muzani.

Previously, the Samawi Volunteers declared support for the reading of President Prabowo Subianto in the 2024 presidential election. The general chairman of Samawi, Muhammad Nahdi, said that the support was given with the consideration of Prabowo who studied with President Joko Widodo.

"Pak Prabowo, as you often say, studied with Pak Jokowi. His policies and even political codes as a reference. On that basis, we are here today to harmonize perceptions, join your hands to continue and compete in the contestation of the election of our nation's leaders. We are sarongs perpendicular to Pak Jokowi and have jtihad to support you, "said Nahdi at a press conference with Prabowo at Prabowo Subianto's residence, Kertanegara 4, Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta, Saturday, October 7th.

Samawi hopes that Solo Mayor Gibran Rakabuming Raka will become Prabowo's vice presidential candidate. Nahdi said Prabowo and Gibran would be the right couple in leading Indonesia.

"We hope that Pak Prabowo will cooperate with Mas Gibran Rakabuming Raka as the prospective vice presidential candidate for Mr. Prabowo if later the Constitutional Court grants a lawsuit over the minimum age limit for presidential and vice presidential candidates. We are sure that this pair will become a doublet that strengthens Mr. Prabowo who is dedicative and firm with Mas Gibran who is innovative and understands the needs of his generation," he said.
