Mahfud MD Asks For Cases Of Alleged SYL Extorted By KPK Leaders To Be Handled Completely

Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud MD reminded that the alleged extortion case by the leadership of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), in handling the alleged corruption case of Syahrul Yasin Limpo, was completely resolved.

"I continue to coordinate with the KPK and with the Regional Police (Metro Jaya) so that this is finished properly and well," said MahfudMD, quoted by ANTARA, Monday, October 9.

Mahfud said the KPK and Polda Metro Jaya already have procedures to resolve the case professionally.

"If there are problems involving the KPK and Polda (Metro Jaya), I think there are procedures and everything has communicated with me to be resolved and passed professionally," he said.

Previously, National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo asked his staff to be careful and careful in handling cases of alleged extortion by the KPK leadership against former agricultural minister Syahrul Yasin Limpo (SYL) related to investigations into alleged corruption at the Ministry of Agriculture.

"Because this concerns reports reported by people who are known to the public and then also concerns institutions that are known to the public, the handling must be careful, must be careful," said Sigit at the Yogyakarta State University (UNY) GOR, Sleman Regency, Yogyakarta, Saturday (6/10).

According to Listyo Sigit, his party has also deployed a team from the National Police Headquarters to assist the Polda Metro Jaya in handling the extortion case led by the KPK. He also invited other parties or institutions who wanted to oversee the performance of the Police regarding the handling of the case.

Director of Special Criminal Investigation of Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Ade Safri Simanjuntak explained that the report on the alleged extortion was received on August 12, 2023 through public complaints.

The police have not revealed who the KPK leaders are in question in the case. Syahrul Yasin Limpopun has visited the Polda Metro Jaya in Jakarta, Thursday (5/10), and has provided information during an examination at the KPK.

The former governor of South Sulawesi has also submitted a letter of resignation from the post of minister of Agriculture to President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) through Minister of State Secretary Pratikno at the Ministry of State Secretariat Office, Jakarta, Thursday.

On Friday (29/9), the KPK announced that it had raised the status of alleged corruption in the Ministry of Agriculture to the investigation stage.
