Support Hamas Retaliatory Attacks On Israel, MUI: Momentum To Strengthen Palestine's Independence

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) supports efforts to counterattack Hamas against Israel when the conflict between Palestine and Israel has heated up again in Gaza since Saturday, October 7, 2023.

Chairman of the MUI for Foreign Relations and International Cooperation Abdul Hakim said that the retaliation of the Palestinian Islamic organization for the attacks given by Israel became a momentum for the Palestinian people and people to strengthen the efforts of the Palestinian people from colonialism.

"This incident should be a momentum for all Palestinian factions, Fatah, Hamas, and others to unite to consolidate themselves to strengthen the independence efforts of the Palestinian people," said Abdul Hakim in his statement, Sunday, October 8.

Abdul Hakim views that the large attack from Hamas is a reaction to the arbitrary actions of Israeli authorities which for a long time and systemically destroy the sovereignty of the Palestinian people and people.

"I really hope that every momentum for Palestinian sovereignty and independence can be utilized as well as possible by every Palestinian faction. In this way, Israel will run out of time and strength," he explained.

Furthermore, Abdul Hakim asked America and NATO not to distort the facts by declaring Hamas a terrorist. Because, according to him, these methods will actually harm America and NATO because so far they have never expressed their courage to assert that Israel is the invaders and terrorists.

"What must be done firmly is to join together with other international communities that support the struggle for the realization of Palestinian independence and stop Israel's imperialism and terrorism," he stressed.

Conflicts in the Gaza Strip broke out due to tensions that surfaced after closing entrances and exits in the region some time earlier. Hamas attacks on Israel left hundreds of people dead and thousands injured.

This last attack has been one of the most serious escalations in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict over the years. In this conflict situation, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has announced an open war against Palestine.
