Visiting The Factory, Residents Protest Vaccine Waste From The Kayu Company In Jombang

Residents visited a wooden factory in Tunggorono Village, Jombang Kota District, Jombang Regency, East Java, because they were restless with powder waste emerging from factory activities.

"The air condition is very inappropriate to inhale, especially outside the house. We cannot breathe dirty air due to the powder," said Muklison, a resident's representative, quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, October 4.

He said the powders from the wood littered the tiles and terraces, even into people's homes. Whenever cleaned, powder appears again.

What's more, the hot weather conditions and strong winds make the dust more littering people's homes and the environment.

In addition to disrupting residents' activities, the waste also causes air pollution so that residents' health is disturbed. Some of their neighbors have complained about experiencing shortness of breath to itching.

He and other residents hope that the company will solve the waste problem resulting from factory activities, so as not to pollute the environment.

Residents carried out peaceful demonstrations at the company. They also brought various attributes and posters containing demands against the company, including "Continue production, don't stop so we die quickly", "Don't sacrifice us" and several other writings.

Residents admitted that this dust waste had occurred for about three months which was thought to have come from the factory's stocks. Dust comes out thick enough to disrupt residents' activities.

"The village pollutes the environment and we want it to be repaired. We don't want to just be promised to be repaired. If it is ignored, we will close this factory," said Muklison.

Subaidi Muchtar, a member of the Jombang Regency DPRD who is also at the location, said that he had asked security officers to connect company leaders.

He was with the sub-district forkopim, as well as from the relevant agencies asking for dialogue. However, he was disappointed because the company was not open.

"We with forkopimcam with the office want to have a dialogue, to find the best solution for residents and companies. However, companies like this do not want dialogue. In fact, we come in good faith, we are not allowed to enter," he said.

His party has scheduled a summons to the company's leadership.

"We are planning a summons in the near future," he said.
