2 Former Village Heads In Southeast Sulawesi Become Narcotics Dealers Arrested, 6 Packages Of Methamphetamine Seized

ButON - Police arrested AZ (37) and BB (51), two former village heads in North Buton Regency (Butur), Southeast Sulawesi (Sultra). Both are suspected of being involved in the abuse of methamphetamine.

"Two perpetrators are suspected of being drug dealers of methamphetamine with the initials AZ and BB," said Head of the Kendari Police Narcotics Unit AKP Bahri in Kendari, Southeast Sulawesi, Tuesday, October 3, confiscated by Antara.

Both were arrested at a boarding house in Mokoau Village, Kambu District, Kendari City, on Friday, September 22 at around 03.00 WITA.

He explained that the arrest was made based on information from the public, which stated that at the crime scene (TKP) it was suspected that it was often used as a place for transactions and narcotics abuse.

"Armed with this information, members of the Kendari Police Narcotics Unit conducted an investigation at the TKP," he said.

Bahri said, after receiving accurate information, his party immediately carried out raids and arrested two perpetrators and continued with a search at the TKP which was witnessed by local residents.

"At that time, evidence was found in the form of six packages suspected of containing methamphetamine in a black bag weighing a gross weight of 10.91 grams," he said.

In addition to evidence in the form of methamphetamine, he continued, his party also confiscated several items allegedly related to methamphetamine in the form of a waist bag, two cigarette wrappers, and two cellphones.

"The two perpetrators and the evidence were immediately taken to the Kendari Police for further investigation," he said.

The head of the Kendari Police Narcotics Unit also said that to account for his actions, the two perpetrators would be subject to Article 132 Paragraph (1) in conjunction with Article 114 Paragraph (2) Subsidiary to Article 112 Paragraph (2) of the Law of the Republic of Indonesia No. 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics.

"With a minimum threat of six years and a maximum of 20 years in prison," he said.
