SOUTH KALIMANTAN - Banjarmasin City Education Office applies distance learning (PJJ) for the next four days for schools in its area due to smog fog pollution. The PJJ will be implemented on October 4-7, 2023.

Head of the Banjarmasin City Education Office, Nuryadi, said that a letter related to the implementation of PJJ had been issued and addressed to school principals from the PAUD, TK, SD and SMP levels. Nuryadi explained, the provisions for teaching and learning activities in Banjarmasin are considering that the air in Banjarmasin City is not healthy due to the increasingly thick smog that hit this area. He said, with this condition increasingly affecting the health of teaching staff and students, especially from data from the Banjarmasin City Health Office, the disease of acute respiratory tract infection (ISPA) has increased. "The current data submitted by the Banjarmasin City Health Office has reached more than 6,000 cases of ISPA," he said.

"After October 7, 2023 or the end of the PJJ, the Banjarmasin Education Office will conduct an evaluation and coordination with other parties to determine the next policy," said Nuryadi.

Kondisi udara di Kota Banjarmasin memang terasa makin parah kabut asap, utamanya pada pagi hari, karena kebakaran hutan dan lahan di Kalsel makin meluas.Wilayah yang terjadi karhutla cukup parah berada di daerah tetangga Kota Banjarmasin, seperti Kabupaten Barito Kuala, Kabupaten Banjar, Kota Banjarbaru dan Kabupaten Tanah Laut.
