List of 11 Subdistricts in Jakarta That Have the Potential to Experience Landslides This Month

JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) asked the public to be aware of the potential for landslides in 11 sub-districts in South Jakarta and East Jakarta this month.

The Chief Executive of BPBD DKI Jakarta, Isnawa Adji, revealed that estimates of potential areas for ground movement were prepared based on the results of an overlay between the land movement vulnerability zone map and the monthly rainfall forecast map.

"According to information from the Center for Volcanology and Geological Disaster Mitigation (PVMBG), several areas in DKI Jakarta Province are in the middle zone," said Isnawa in his statement, quoted on Wednesday, October 3.

In the middle zone, continued Isnawa, ground movement can occur if rainfall is above normal, especially in areas bordering river valleys, escarpments, road cliffs or if slopes experience disturbances. Meanwhile, in high zones, old ground movements can become active again.

"For this reason, village heads, sub-district heads and the community are advised to continue to anticipate the potential for ground movement when rainfall is above normal," he said.

The following are 11 sub-districts that have the potential for land movement in Jakarta in October 2023:

1. Cilandak District, South Jakarta

2. Jagakarsa District, South Jakarta

3. Kebayoran Baru District, South Jakarta

4. Kebayoran Lama District, South Jakarta

5. Mampang Prapatan District, South Jakarta

6. Pancoran District, South Jakarta

7. Pasar Minggu District, South Jakarta

8. Pesanggrahan District, South Jakarta

9. Kramat Jati District, East Jakarta

10. Pasar Rebo District, East Jakarta

11. Cipayung District, East Jakarta
