TANJUNG Pangdang - Firefighters from the Belitung Regency Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), Bangka Belitung Islands managed to extinguish a 10-hectare forest and land fire (karhutla) in Sungai Samak Village, Badau District.

"Alhamdulillah, we managed to extinguish the 10 hectare forest and land fires in Sungai Samak Village on Thursday (28/9)," said the Commander of Team Piket II of the BelitungRiko Pribadi BPBD Damkar in Tanjung Pandan, quoted by ANTARA, Friday, September 29.

The fire scorched approximately 10 hectares of forest and land.

"The condition of the burned area is dominated by weeds and dried grass so that the fire spreads very quickly," he said.

The Belitung BPBD Damkar Team previously received a report from a resident that there was a forest and land fire at the location on Thursday (28/9), at 11.45 WIB.

"The resident reported that there had been a forest and land fire incident, the hotspot was not far from a villa in that location," he said.

After receiving the report, the Belitung BPBD Damkar Team went straight to the scene to extinguish the fire.

"We managed to extinguish the fire at 16.10 WIB or approximately four hours 25 minutes," he said.

The obstacles faced by the team in the field in the blackout were in the form of a fairly wide burned land area.

"So the team must work hard and be extra fast to extinguish the fire so it doesn't spread," he said.

His party does not yet know the source of the fire in the forest and land fires.

"It is suspected that temporary burning of garbage or cigarette butts was thrown away. The fire came from the forest," he said.
