Riau Islands Police: 35 Suspects Riot In Rempang Cases Have Not Received Suspension

Head of Public Relations of the Riau Islands Police, Kombes Zahwani Pandra Arsyad, said 35 suspects in the chaos of refusing to relocate the people of Pulau Rempang in front of the BP Batam office on September 11, 2023, had not yet received a suspension.

He explained that currently the deepening process is still ongoing against the 35 people.

"This is the investigator's authority, in this case, of course investigators are still conducting an in-depth process of obtaining information. So it is still in progress," said Pandra in Batam, Riau Islands, as reported by ANTARA, Monday, September 25.

Likewise, the eight people who had already received a suspension, even though the legal process against them was still ongoing.

However, he said, the eight people who had been given the suspension were already responsible for what they had done. By telling the public that the conditions in Rempang are currently safe.

"This kind of call can make the situation more conducive," he said.

The police are currently still focused on preventive measures so that similar incidents do not happen again.

Especially said Pandra, about the amount of false information circulating in the mass media regarding this Rempang problem.

"In cyberspace, which is now starting to develop a lot of hoax news, and making things worse. Therefore, I ask community leaders to calm the people of Rempang who are currently active normally," he explained.
