BANDUNG - Acting (Pj) Mayor of Bandung Bambang Tirtoyuliono invited the entire community to help solve the waste emergency problem when commemorating the 213th Anniversary of the City of Bandung (HKJB).

"The current priority work is mitigating waste management because its production according to the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reached 1,500 tons per day last year and 709.73 tons of which were food waste, as well as the largest contributor to piles of waste," said Bambang while leading the ceremony at Bandung City Hall, West Java, Monday, September 25, confiscated by Antara.

Therefore, he encouraged the waste sorting program called Kang Pisman (Kurangi, Separate, and Utilize) which applies in every Rukun Warga (RW) in Bandung City to be massively mobilized.

"That means the Kang Pisman movement must continue to be massively improved by involving related parties whose essence is to handle waste from the family level," he said.

He said that until now the Kang Pisman movement had succeeded in involving 234 RWs or 14.6 percent of 1,597 RWs in Bandung City.

"This effort does not only stop there because at the same time there are 38,000 houses that have sorted waste using the Kang Pisman method, as many as 32,900 houses have succeeded in processing waste with their own awareness," he said.

Currently, he said, the Bandung City Government (Pemkot) is also working on procuring gibrik machine waste processing machines at 10 points, in order to complete three Integrated Waste Processing Sites (TPST) built by the Ministry of PUPR in the Nyengseret, Cicabe, and Tegallega areas, as well as in the context of accelerating waste-free areas.

Bambang hopes that the 213th HJKB commemoration must be a momentum for the community to be more productive with increasing economic development, reduced unemployment, reduced poverty, and people's purchasing power continuing to improve.

"We can maximize all land and space for various needs, both for economic activities and environmental conservation, residential agriculture, and other residents' livelihoods," said Bambang.
