JAKARTA - An Indonesian citizen (WNI) from North Sumatra (North Sumatra) became a victim of kidnapping and torture for approximately ten days in Malaysia.

It didn't take long for the Malaysian Diraja police to finally arrest four perpetrators and have been named as suspects.

The victim was named Fadila Fauziah (36), a resident of Pekubuan Village, Tanjung Pura District, Langkat Regency, North Sumatra. The victim was kidnapped and abused by a group of perpetrators with a debt motive between the victim's husband, namely Abdul Gofar and one of the main perpetrators.

The victim's attorney, Said Firhad Assegaf, said in his statement that the victim received threats using sharp weapons from a number of perpetrators.

In addition, the victims were also tortured by the perpetrators using needles with their eyes closed. Not only that, the victim was also injured by the perpetrators using a drill and even the perpetrators cut the victim's hair.

Said Firhad Assegaf told the chronology of the kidnapping and molestation carried out by the perpetrators.

According to him, the kidnapping incident occurred on September 6, 2023 when the victim was doing a business of buying and selling goods in Malaysia.

"On the 6th, the victim was kidnapped in Malaysia, to be precise at Fadilah Fauziah's house and on the 7th, the news was that the victim's family was kidnapped," said Said.

Then on September 14, 2023, the victim's husband and the legal team reported the kidnapping case to the Malaysian Royal Police.

The police who received the report from the victim immediately moved quickly and on Saturday, September 16, 2023, police officers arrested the perpetrators.

"Then on September 14, we took steps as a lawyer. We departed in Kuala Lumpur to our Indonesian Embassy and thank God we were welcomed and the legal process went straight away. On September 15 the Malaysian Diraja police immediately moved and on Saturday night we received a report and that the entire perpetrators of the crime were caught in total of 14 people," he explained.

Said said the victim was held captive for 10 days and received unnatural treatment by the perpetrators. The victim was held captive in various areas in Malaysia and the victim's condition was injured in the body.

"The victim's condition when we met him, the victim did experience bruises all over the victim's body, legs, and hands, bruises and hair condition.

Said also revealed that the motive for the kidnapping and molestation cases carried out by the perpetrators against the victim was the debt problem between the victim's husband and one of the main perpetrators. The victim's husband already has a debt of more than Rp. 1 billion to one of the perpetrators.

"The debt is around 5,300 Malaysian ringgit, if it is totaled to 170,000 ringgit. Husband is not paying, the husband has also paid, but if there is an alung. If here the name is moneylender, it will flower. But the interest that occurs in the receivable debt is very fantastic, it becomes more than Rp. 1 billion," he said.

Now the condition of the victim is starting to improve. The victim was entrusted to the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia in Penang, Malaysia.
