Ponorogo Regent Orders Transportation Agency To Take Strict Action On ODOL Trucks Due To Main Road Damage

PONOROGO - Ponorogo Regent Sugiri Sancoko instructed the Ponorogo Transportation Service (Dishub) to be more assertive in carrying out operations of trucks transporting loads exceeding capacity or ODOL) because it is suspected to be the main cause of road infrastructure damage.

"Intensify operations. If there are vehicles (trucks) that are found to have a tub or container exceeding the actual size (ODOL), strict action must be taken," said the Regent of Sugiri in Ponorogo, East Java, Sunday, September 24, which was confiscated by Antara.

The instruction was conveyed by Sugiri after he and his staff saw the condition of road infrastructure in several inter-village and inter-district routes that were badly damaged.

According to him, one of the culprits of the road was damaged quickly due to the large number of mining material cargo trucks passing on non-road class routes.

"Wild mines, for example, will soon be eradicated. Illegal mining transportation is ODOL. The road that should last a long time will eventually be damaged quickly, it will harm us as a country," said Sugiri.

From the existing data, there are only four mines that have permits from dozens of mines in Ponorogo that operate, especially in Ngebel District, which has long been the location of mining.

"One mine has dozens of trucks, what if there are dozens of mines with high intensity traffic. So, I invite people in transportation to eradicate ODOL," he said.

The number one person in the Ponorogo Regency Government also asked the Transportation Agency to cooperate with other law enforcement agencies, such as the police and the prosecutor's office.

According to him, attention to ODOL cannot be considered a joke, especially since damaged road conditions are the responsibility of the government.

"I'm not playing games because there is a loss that must be borne by the Ponorogo Regency Government," he said.

Plt. Head of Ponorogo Transportation Agency Setyo Hari Jatmiko said he was ready to follow up on orders from his superiors.

He will also immediately collaborate with law enforcement officials to take action in the field.

"We will immediately carry it out, several times we will take persuasive actions by not ODOL while operating. We hope that all can be obeyed when we see the facts we will follow the regent's orders with the agency," he said.
