South Lampung Fires Extinguished Toll Land Fires At KM 85

South LaMPUNG - Fire and Rescue Service (Damkarmat) officers of South Lampung Regency managed to extinguish a land fire in the Bakauheni-Terganggi Besar toll road area at KM 85, Karang Sari Village, Jatiagung District.

"There has been a fire on the KM 85 toll road area, Karangsir Village, Jatiagung District, on September 21, 2023, at 18.00 WIB," said Head of the Fire Department at the South Lampung Damkarmat Service, Rully Fikriansyah, as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, September 21.

His party had difficulty overcoming the land fire, because the conditions at the scene contained strong winds and dry grass which resulted in flammable.

"The Jatiagung Command Post Fire Team who received the report at 18.00 WIB immediately rushed to the location by deploying two fire engines from the Jatiagung Command Post and the Natar Command Post," he said.

At around 19:50 WIB, the fire was successfully extinguished, and currently firefighters are cooling down the area where the incident occurred.

"Members arrived at 18.20 WIB and the fire was extinguished at 19.50 WIB, for victims zero and losses cannot be ascertained," he said.

But there is no explanation how much land the fire experienced.

"The temporary source of fire is estimated from cigarette butts," he said.

For this incident, Rully appealed to the public to increase awareness of the potential for forest and land fires (karhutla) during the dry season in the area.
