Ganjar: KPK Needs To Be Strengthened To Eradicate Corruption

JAKARTA - Ganjar Pranowo's presidential candidate emphasized that his commitment would strengthen the Corruption Eradication Commission if he was elected president in the 2024 presidential election.

This was conveyed by Ganjar at the event held by Mata Najwa at Gadjah Mada University, Yogyakarta, Tuesday, September 19.

Initially, the host Najwa Shihab about the discourse on disbanding the KPK because it was considered ineffective.

Ganjar responded by explaining the challenges in strengthening law enforcement, including the KPK. There are three, namely the culture of corruption, corruption policies, systems or corruption rules, corrupt practices.

Receiving this explanation, Najwa again asked about Ganjar's commitment to the KPK.

"So it doesn't agree that it must be disbanded, instead it is strengthened?" asked Najwa.

Najwa again asked Ganjar's commitment if he was elected president, would he strengthen the KPK or dissolve it.

"I want to follow up with a more concrete question, which means When you take office, the KPK will be returned again, its independence is not what it is now?" asked Najwa.

"Strengthened," said Ganjar.

More than that, Ganjar also emphasized that he was ready to revise the revision of regulations to strengthen the KPK. However, he reminded that there is a political process that all parties need to understand in drafting or revising regulations.
