US Caucasian Suspect For Rape Of A Filipino Citizen In Bali Is Now Wanted By The Police, Was Detained Then Released Because Of Case Files

Badung Police, Bali, published a wanted list (DPO) of rape suspects with the initials JPA (36) from the United States

JPA is suspected of raping the victim of a Filipino citizen with the initials BPJ (31). In addition, the police have named a woman with the initials MCO as a suspect for helping to rape in November 2022.

Badung Police Chief, AKBP Teguh Priyo Wasono said the two suspects had previously been detained at the Badung Police Headquarters. However, their detention period expired when the files were incomplete.

"We have sent the case file to the prosecutor. During the detention process that we have carried out until it extends to this District Court, not yet P21," said AKBP Teguh, Tuesday, September 19.

Meanwhile, the files of the female suspect with the initials MCO by the Badung Kejari were declared ineligible.

"For P21, the male (JPA) and the female cannot P21 according to the prosecutor," he added.

The two suspects were detained at the Badung Police Station but were released by investigators on the grounds that the time of detention had expired.

"So we also certainly obey the law. That if the detention has been completed but the P21 process has not been completed. So we must let go of it for the sake of law, because the detention period has expired," he explained.

"Not running away and we are not releasing. It is released by law because the detention period has expired because the detention period has expired regarding the P21 file," he said.

The determination of the complete case file is slower than the JPA detention limit. When the file was declared complete by the Badung District Attorney, the suspect's detention period expired first. Therefore, the suspect JPA first left the Badung Police detention center.

Currently the police are looking for JPA because the case file is complete for trial.

"Once we want phase two, we do a search and we issue a DPO. Because we are still searching (JPA) we will issue a red notice as well and we are still trying to find it," he said.
