Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam) Mahfud MD stated that legal certainty and legal protection are priorities in following up on the recommendations of the Legal Reform Acceleration Team

Mahfud explained that many legal issues have an impact on the economic sector and investment is rooted in the weakness of legal certainty in Indonesia.

What we will do soon is how to make the legal world comfortable for our investment and development or economic growth with legal certainty guarantees. Our legal issues so far sometimes the investment feels uncomfortable, investors feel disturbed because sometimes there is no legal certainty," said Mahfud MD as reported by ANTARA, Monday, September 18.

Therefore, Mahfud emphasized that his party will design a legal system in the country that provides certainty to the community, including business actors.

Mahfud explained that strengthening legal certainty was carried out, including by preventive measures.

"That prevents uncertainty, prevents arbitrariness, so we must choose to prevent it better than solve the problem. Preventing problems must come first rather than solving problems. That's all we will do later," said Mahfud MD.

However, not only that, he said, legal protection was in the spotlight of the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security Affairs in following up on President Joko Widodo's directives regarding the recommendations of the Legal Reform Acceleration Team.

The Team for the Acceleration of Legal Reform formed by Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud MD on Thursday (14/9) handed over 150 items of recommendations to Indonesian President Joko Widodo regarding the steps that the government needs to take to accelerate legal reform in Indonesia.

The recommendations include reforms in the field of judicial institutions and law enforcement, reforms in the agrarian sector and natural resources (SDA), reforms in the legislation sector, as well as prevention and eradication of corruption.
