Make Sure It Won't Be Political, KPK: Contestant Elections To Be Witnesses Are Pure Law Enforcement

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) will not interfere in the 2024 General Election (Pemilu) contestation. Anyone who is summoned, including figures at the democratic party, is confirmed to resolve allegations of corruption that is being investigated.

"For example, there are personnel (people) who are participating in the contestation or the political world being asked for information as witnesses, of course, in their capacity to enforce the law," Acting Deputy for Enforcement and Execution of the KPK Asep Guntur told reporters at the KPK's Merah Putih building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Monday, September 18.

Asep could not stop those who assumed that the KPK was political. However, they ensure that the work carried out is pure law enforcement.

"The KPK's work area is not politics. The KPK's work is in the law enforcement area," he said.

"We are not at all related to politics. Indeed, then, for example, interpreted this is, go ahead," continued Asep.

Previously, the KPK had announced that three suspects were named in the case of procuring the protection system. Secretary of the Planning and Development Agency of the Ministry of Manpower I Nyoman Darmanta is reportedly one of the parties involved

In investigating this case, several witnesses have been examined. One of them is the former Minister of Manpower (Menaker) Muhaimin Iskandar or Cak Imin who served for the 2009-2014 period on Thursday, September 7.

As a result of this summons, various speculations occurred, including allegations of legal politicization. Even so, Cak Imin admitted that he had explained everything he knew in front of investigators.

At that time, Cak Imin was examined for five hours. "Everything I have heard and God willing, everything I remember, all I know I have explained," he said to reporters at the KPK's Red and White House.

He hopes that the KPK will immediately resolve the corruption case in the procurement of the TKI protection system. Cak Imin felt that his explanation was clear even though he did not want to go into detail.

Meanwhile, the anti-corruption commission said it was exploring several things in this case. Among other things, the reason Cak Imin approved the procurement of a protection system that led to a bancakan.
