Ridwan Kamil Can No Longer Accompany Ganjar, Mahfud MD Strengthens?

JAKARTA - The chairman of the PDI-P DPP, Puan Maharani, said that the figures of Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono and Ridwan Kamil were no longer possible to accompany Ganjar Pranowo as a candidate for vice president along with the differences in the coalition.

"Earlier, the name Mas AHY appeared, but because the Democrats have decided to go to Pak Prabowo, yes, of course it seems impossible. Mr. RK (Ridwan Kamil) too, Golkar has already been with Pak Prabowo," said Puan as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, September 18.

Puan said there are a number of names that have the opportunity to accompany Ganjar Pranowo, such as Erick Thohir, Sandiaga Uno, Andika Perkasa, and Mahfud MD.

However, discussions about the future vice presidential candidate are still very dynamic. PDIP and all general chairmen of coalition parties will soon hold a coordination meeting related to the current political dynamics.

"Yes, with changes in the dynamics like this, I think there will be changes again. Later we will immediately hold a coordination meeting with the ketum, with Mrs. Mega, regarding changes in the dynamics," said Puan.

He said PDIP and the coalition still have until the next month to determine who will become Ganjar Pranowo's future vice presidential candidate.

"The registration is still a long time, it's still a month. Everyone hopes that it will be decided soon, but each party has its own strategy," he said.

Previously, PDI-P Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto said that Ganjar Pranowo's future vice presidential candidate was still in the discussion stage by the general chairmen of supporting political parties.

"Regarding the vice president's reading, it has been conveyed by Mr. Haji Muhammad Mardiono who is still carrying out the funeral and dynamic discussions are always being carried out to look for the best. All political parties are solid, all moving to also strengthen legislative election cooperation," said Hasto.

According to him, the determination of the candidate for vice president is very vital considering that the political parties supporting Ganjar Pranowo are targeting the 2024 presidential election victory in one round.
