DKPP Checks Four Makassar KPU Members

The Election Organizers Honorary Council (DKPP) examined four members of the Makassar City General Election Commission (KPU) and eight former members of the Tamalate District Voting Committee (PPS) after being dismissed at the South Sulawesi Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu).

"We have studied information from the parties, both complainants and defendants, and I consider it sufficient for today's examination," said DKPP chairman Ratna Dewi Pettalolo through a virtual inaugural trial reported by ANTARA, Monday, September 18.

From this explanation, his party gave a deadline to complainants, namely eight former PPS members in Tamalate District and four Makassar City KPU members to prepare a conclusion no later than three days from the DKPP trial team.

Makassar City KPU member Endang Sari during his examination said the decision to dismiss the eight PPS members was because they were proven to have a meeting with the South Sulawesi DPRD legislative candidate from the PDI-P Party at Ananda Hospital, and that was after the person concerned registered with the KPU.

"The meeting was in a private place, in a hospital. We also studied the recommendations of the Makassar Bawaslu where there was a safe expression, there was no CCTV and they received money," said Endang.

From the deepening, the meeting was to consolidate the victory of one of the legislative candidates (bacaleg) for the February 14, 2024 elections. In addition, from witness statements, there was talk that every polling place (TPS) must have a minimum of 12 votes.

"For us, the meeting injured election organizers and violated the code of ethics and we cannot tolerate it. All (former PPS) confirmed the Bawaslu examination. So, our steps immediately stopped them," he said.

For the defendant positions, namely the Chairman of the Makassar City KPU M Faridl Wajdi and his three members, Endang Sari, M Gunawan Mashar, and Abd Rahman, respectively.

Meanwhile, eight former PPS in Tamalate District who became the complainant of each former chairman of PPS Tanjung Merdeka A Burhanuddin, former Chairman of PPS Balang Baru Ahmad, former Chairman of PPS Maccini Sombala Israq, former PPS Chairman Bongaya Muchlis Jerry Ruslim.

Furthermore, former PPS Chairman Parang Tambung Muhammad Nur Syahid, former PPS chairman Pa'baeng-baeng Suhardi, former PPS member Bongaya Budi Setiawan, and former PPS member Parang Tambung Hardi. They met the owner of the hospital named Fadli Ananda who was a leg from the PDI-P.

One of the defendants in the trial, Muhammad Nur Syahir, former chairman of PPS Parang Tambung, argued that the meeting at Ananda Hospital at the end of May 2023 had nothing to do with politics but discuss the wing organization of Nahdatul Ulama, Ansor.

"He (doctor Fadli) is my organizational advisory board. They (PPS) will be recruited as cadre candidates so that our human resources will increase. So, there is no political problem, it's just a matter of cadre (Ansor)," he said.
