Gunfight With TNI, 5 KKB Killed In Papua Mountains

JAKARTA - The Armed Criminal Group (KBB) was involved in a shootout with the TNI in Dekai District, Yahukimo Regency, Papua Mountains, Thursday, September 14. Five members of the separatist group were killed by a bullet.

The Head of Public Relations of the Papua Police, Kombes Ignatius Benny Ady Prabowo, said that the bodies of the five KKB members had been evacuated and taken to Dekai Hospital.

"The five bodies were evacuated after the shootout between the TNI and KKB," said Benny in his statement, Friday, September 15.

From the reports received, the joint TNI-Polri team has conducted a crime scene (TKP). Several pieces of evidence such as 2 firearms and 4 bullets were found and immediately secured.

"All evidence has now been secured at the Yahukimo Police for investigation purposes," he said.

On the other hand, Benny emphasized that the TNI-Polri will continue to be committed to maintaining the security of Papua. All parties who commit a crime will be immediately prosecuted.

"The National Police, assisted by the TNI, remains consistent in enforcing the law against anyone who commits a criminal act," said Benny.
