Airlangga Gives Leaks, One More Party Joins The Prabowo Coalition

JAKARTA - General Chairperson (Ketum) of the Golkar Party Airlangga Hartarto said there would be an additional political party (parpol) that would join the Advanced Indonesia Coalition (KIM) to carry Prabowo Subianto.

"The important thing is that we wait for one more party to enter first," said Airlangga when he met the chairman of KIM's political party at the Golkar Party DPP Office, Thursday night, September 14.

Airlangga did not specify who the party would join. He only said that the characteristics of the party have a similar identity color to the party that has joined KIM.

"The characteristics are, the colors are already in this coalition," said Airlangga with a laugh.

Currently, KIM consists of the Gerindra Party, Golkar Party, Gelora Party, National Mandate Party (PAN), and the Crescent Star Party (PBB). The five of them held a meeting to discuss winning programs and strategies.

At that meeting, KIM Prabowo Subianto's presidential candidate (candidate) admitted that he was preparing a winning team for the 2024 Presidential Election (Pilpres).

"Regarding the winning team, we are compiling the chairman of the team, we will also talk about it and we will also approach several figures," Prabowo said during a press conference.

He explained that his party was currently compiling the name that would be the head of the winning team. Prabowo also admitted that he would approach several figures regarding this matter.

"We will certainly want some of these figures and we will ask for their willingness," said Prabowo.

However, the chairman of the Gerindra Party and the Minister of Defense have not been able to confirm when the winning team will be completed.

"The process is running. In time we will convey it," said Prabowo.

Apart from Prabowo and Airlangga, the political party leaders who were also present at the meeting were PAN Chairman Zulkifli Hasan, UN Chairman Yusril Ihza Mahendra, and Gelora Party Chairman Anis Matta.

In accordance with the schedule of the General Elections Commission (KPU), the registration of prospective pairs of presidential and vice presidential candidates will start from October 19, 2023 to November 25, 2023.

In Law Number 7 of 2017 concerning General Elections (UU Pemilu) it is stated that pairs of presidential/vice-presidential candidates are proposed by political parties or coalitions of political parties participating in the election who meet the requirements for obtaining seats of at least 20 percent of the total seats in the DPR or obtaining 25 percent of the nationally valid votes in the previous election for members of the DPR.

Currently, there are 575 seats in parliament so that the presidential/vice-presidential candidate pair in the 2024 presidential election must have at least 115 seats in the DPR RI. It could also be that the candidate pairs are promoted by political parties or a combination of political parties participating in the 2019 Election with a total valid vote acquisition of at least 34,992,703 votes.
